Hello all,
Well done to all the presenters who were successful this afternoon with their oral presentations.
Nine talks, nine passes - very well done to Amanda, Leigh, Scott, Siobhan, Lori, Liam, Nicola, Hannah and Lauren - 9 excellent talks, all of which passed.
The subjects were varied and interesting and well researched.
I thoroughly enjoyed the talks mainly for the following reasons - your input, your research, your enthusiasm, q and a and more, excellent. This is the standard I am looking for.
I also heard my very first Sway presentation today, went well. Bravo, Amanda.
For those of you who were at the session today, I would like you to comment on how you felt the session went this morning when it is fresh in your mind. You may wish to use all, some of these prompts. It will help next week's presenters too, I would imagine:
- did it go as well as you had planned?
- what did you do well?
- could you have done better?
- did you learn something about yourself and your peers?
- what did you think about the feedback etc.?
Very well done to everybody today. I thoroughly enjoyed assessing your work and you all got what you deserved from the session, which was a pass. It doesn't always work out that way, but solid work often wins the day, right? Cheers, Mark
ReplyDeletedid it go as well as you had planned? My presentation went a lot better than I thought it would be.
ReplyDeletewhat did you do well? I feel like I did myself proud in presenting the talk as I wasn't as nervous as I thought I was going to be, I was really proud with my piece of work
could you have done better? Yes, there is always room for improvement however since that was my first talk, I am pleased on how my performance was.
did you learn something about yourself and your peers? Yeah, it was good for us all to work in small groups.
what did you think about the feedback etc.? There was a lot of detail in the feedback which was great and really helped on how we can improve etc.
Morning Lauren, thank you so much for your comments. They are really helpful for you and the others coming up on Friday. A lot of your success was built on you being ahead of the game with your prep and also your inside knowledge. But you didn't rely solely on the latter, you shoehorned your knowledge into the delivery well indeed and looked comfortable with the subject matter. Small group assessing is most certainly the way to go. Well done and see you a week on Friday.
DeleteMorning Nicola, some great comments here, thank you for taking the time to articulate your thoughts. Yes, a few wee things we were able to add into the slides after the delivery, but not a problem at all. Well done. You had some really good information, and the source we looked at in the q and a was really familiar to you and you were able to use that extremely well to consolidate your knowledge, fantastic. All feedback on everything you all do should be used to build a platform for future deliveries, and I am glad you have noted that. Very well done and I will see you back in class on Friday 18th November. Have a lovely day, Mark
ReplyDeletedid it go as well as you had planned?
ReplyDeletewhat did you do well? I think the presentation went as planned with the timing and the information.
could you have done better? Yes, I could have presented with handouts or tried to be less nervous
did you learn something about yourself and your peers? I learned a lot about my peers and myself. I learned a lot on adopting from my own presentation.
what did you think about the feedback etc.? The feedback was great, it focussed a lot on the positives but also the room for improvements witch is something that will help me in the future.
Morning Amanda, thank you for taking the time to add some reflections in. I was impressed to watch my first Sway talk, and it worked well as we discussed. Handouts would have been good for all talks, but for Sway, I think you are right, it would have been good for the audience, but your talk flowed really well, you were in control and some really interesting research (lots of references) on adoption. We all learned from the talks, and as a non-specialist as it were, I arguably learned the most. Feedback is so important to how I operate, so thank you for those words. See you a week on Friday. Mark
DeleteDid it go as well as you planned - I wouldn't say it did, I felt I let myself down as on reflection I could have interacted more / better with the audience. I am pleased that the timing and the information was accurate (I think lol)
DeleteWhat did you do well - I would say that I am always a bit concerned that at times I talk a bit quicker / faster than I should and during the presentation I was mindful of that, I feel that I was able to keep a slow / progressive whilst delivering my presentation.
Could have done better - During the presentation I skipped a slide and didn't even notice, I would say be more confident in the slides you are displaying and this won't happen and also introduce myself at the start
Did you learn something about yourself and your peers - I really enjoyed the teams presentations as it gives you an insight into what matters to others and the basic reasons behind it, It was also very interesting to hear from one of the team that after doing some research that the Camhs that it isn't as well publicised as it should be! I learned from myself that I can actually slow down whilst talking lol, not convinced my family and friends would agree thou.
What did you think about feedback - I am always happy to receive constructive feedback as that's how we learn, I am happy with the areas that got highlighted as hopefully that will ensure I don't make the same mistake again, Marion Cooper.
